Since it's inception in 1980, Spirit Technology (then Mike Boorne Electronics) has produced a broad range of technology products designed to enhance and change the way we live.
Amongst our early projects was the development of the beeper device at traffic lights for the assistance of visually impaired people, (now deployed world-wide) followed shortly thereafter by a personal computer based text-to-speech synthesiser. The next step was modem technology, simplifying and automating the connection and interchange of data for personal computers, via the telephone line.
To this end, in 1986 a strategic alliance was forged with Banksia Information Technology (owned by Australian ex-pat, David Hartley) in Hong Kong. This positioned us admirably to catch the first wave of modem sales in Australia, quickly gaining broad market acceptance through multiple distribution channels.
By 1991, with the Internet yet to cause an impact, high speed fax/modems had already become very popular and the industry fiercely competitive. At this time Mike Boorne Electronics sold its BIT modem business to the present day Netcomm (then Banksia Technology) in order to make way for a new Australian modem brand.
In 1992, Mike Boorne Electronics developed and released the Spirit brand of fax/modems with the co-operation of California based aerospace and communication company, Digicom Systems Inc. This measure provided for greater control over product features and manufacturing costs and culminated with the release of the Spirit II, a high speed analogue data/fax modem with superior performance and an exceptional price.
Today the Spirit brand is well known and trusted throughout Australia. With our proven ability to deliver the right product at the right price, combined with nation-wide presence in retail consumer goods and enthusiast stores as well as the more traditional value added reseller's and solution providers, we continue to sustain strong growth which, in turn, ensures long term profitability and stability.

Spirit Technology is the manufacturer and distributor of the popular Spirit range of communication products, including fax/modems, Terminal Adapters and Multimedia products.
Spirit products are sold Australia wide by our dealer network of around 800 outlets. Our reseller channel is made up of small consultants through to major retail stores such as Harvey Norman, Dick Smith Electronics and Tandy. Spirit Technology markets its products through its distribution channel and by building relationships with major customers to develop and market targeted solutions and informative packaging on their products.
